Minnetonka Wood Flooring has worked on wood flooring in Minnetonka, MN for more than 20 years. We refinish, repair, install and restore hardwood floors in houses, townhomes, condominiums and commercial spaces, from a single water-damaged kitchen to a whole house of oak that has not seen a sander in decades.
What ties the work together is a habit of measuring first and writing it down. A wood floor responds to moisture, humidity and what is underneath it, and most problems we are called to fix trace back to something nobody checked before the boards went down.
Our Approach

On the first visit, we read the room’s relative humidity and note it on the quote, because a Minnesota house in furnace season usually sits below the range wood flooring is made for. We read moisture on the subfloor or slab itself before any board goes down, measure the wear layer before promising to sand an engineered floor, and use the three-inch soil rule to decide whether a lower level is below grade, walkouts included.
Prices are written per square foot before a crew is booked, with a recoat and a full sand listed next to each other when both are possible. Stairs are priced by the tread and riser, and subfloor or structural work has its own line. The finish chemistry, the cure time and the day furniture, rugs and pets can come back are on paper before we start.
Some jobs need extra care. Water-damaged floors are photographed and moisture-mapped for the claim before drying or tear-out begins. In townhomes and upstairs units, we read the association documents and match the underlayment to the building before scheduling. In pre-1978 houses, we sand under the federal lead-safe work rule and describe our containment by the equipment we use rather than calling it dustless.
We also tell you when the answer is to wait. A cupped floor that is still drying, a slab that has not passed its moisture test, or a room sitting at very low winter humidity can all turn a good job into a callback if the work goes ahead too soon. Saying so up front, with the readings to show why, is part of the quote.
